"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat."
- Psalm 19: 1-6
I believe that there is a God, one true God, and that He is love. I also believe in His Son, Jesus Christ - who was crucified, dead and buried and on the third day rose from the dead - and the power of His Holy Spirit who resides within me and within all who believe. I have struggles and doubts, as does anyone who participates in this faith, and if I'm honest I'd tell you that these struggles are real and they sometimes shake me at my core. However, these trials have shaped me into the man I am today - a stronger man who trusts more deeply than a man untested. Jesus said that He "came that [we] might have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10), and I believe this to be true for those living in the now who have called on His name - not just some "pie in the sky" after we pass on. C.S. Lewis put it beautifully when he said, "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else." It may be a romantic notion but I believe God wants us to truly participate in this life He gave us by experiencing the world through His love and His way of loving. And this is love:
"This is my commandment, that you love on another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you." - Jesus of Nazareth; John 15: 12-14
I trust in Christ and do my best to love as He loved me. I invite you to do the same and discover what a wondrous, beautiful, and crazy life He has to offer.
* Read "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan and you will have read a book that changed my life.
